Jeanie Nelson, President and Executive Director of The Land Trust for Tennessee, will give the keynote talk along with a Powerpoint presentation on Sat., April 18, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School. In 1999, Jeanie Nelson founded The Land Trust for Tennessee with Governor Phil Bredesen and a group of interested citizens to “preserve the unique character of Tennessee's natural and historic landscapes and sites for future generations.” She now serves as President and Executive Director. The Land Trust for Tennessee has preserved over 38,000 acres in 126 projects in 37 different counties. Nelson currently serves as the Chair of the Board of the Southern Environment Law Center and on the National Board of Directors of The Land Trust Alliance. She served in the Clinton/Gore Administration as the General Counsel for the United States Environmental Protection Agency and as the Director of the President’s Crime Prevention Council. Prior to these appointments, Nelson served as Chief Deputy Attorney General for Tennessee and for 13 years was in private practice in Nashville. Nelson, who now lives in Nasahville, received her B.A. in English and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University.
